Interview with Miquel Espí, CEO of VYC industrial

With a history of 111 years keeping its core values intact, VYC Industrial has positioned itself as one of the strongest companies in the chemical sector. Specialising in steam and other processes with all types of fluids, this company based in Terrassa (Barcelona) and present in 87 countries will once again be  a Global Partner of Expoquimia in its 2026 edition.

What are the keys that have allowed VYC to remain a benchmark in the industry for more than a century?
Surely the main key has been to stay true to our vocation of technical excellence and customer service. We are firmly committed to the optimization of our products, constant innovation, quality in each of our processes and products, and the continuous training of our team. Throughout these more than 110 years, we have tried to adapt to market changes without losing our core values.

In which product ranges do you particularly stand out, both in the field of valves and boilermaking? And what role does your line of services for air conditioning play?

We are specialists in steam and other processes with all types of fluids. In valves, we stand out for our safety valves, steam traps and automatic pressure and temperature regulation systems. At boilermaking we offer comprehensive solutions for generation and processing with steam, thermal oil and hot or superheated water.

As for air conditioning, we are specialized in the field of industrial air conditioning, refrigeration and air extraction systems, from design to commissioning and maintenance.

What sets your company apart from others in the industrial valves industry?
We are distinguished by the ability to offer tailor-made solutions, even in highly complex applications. Our approach is comprehensive: we consult, design and manufacture in compliance with the strictest international regulations.

In addition, we have the most advanced R+D means, not only in software but also with functional tests in our fluid dynamic testing laboratory accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity).

We carefully select our suppliers, inspect and verify raw materials, and carry out absolute product traceability. We have modern and sophisticated manufacturing criteria, semi-automatic assembly and testing lines, as well as intelligent warehouses with stocks adjusted to our reality ready to supply at least 87 countries.

All this gives us great production flexibility and in-depth technical knowledge that allows us to accompany our customers from the project phase to the after-sales phase.

How has a company born in Terrassa managed to successfully project itself into the international market?
Our internationalization has been the result of a strategy sustained over time, based on trust, the reliability of our products and the establishment of long-term alliances. Today we are present in 87 countries thanks to a solid commercial network, a consolidated brand image and customer service that knows no borders.

We have put a lot of passion, dedication, effort and luck has not eluded us.

What are your main markets and types of customers today? Our most consolidated markets are Europe, Latin America and Asia, with a strong presence in the chemical, energy, food, pharmaceutical and naval sectors. We work with both large multinationals and with engineering firms, installers and local companies that value our technical advice and experience. In all countries we have distributors with material for delivery according to the needs of the end customer.

What is VYC’s sustainability strategy based on and what concrete measures have you implemented?
We focus on three pillars: energy efficiency, responsible materials and circular economy. We have optimised our production processes to reduce energy consumption, we recycle materials and encourage the creation of complex products with simple, durable and easily maintainable designs. We require ourselves to comply with and anticipate international environmental regulations and actively work to reduce our carbon footprint. For its high standards in terms of sustainability, VYC industrial is certified by EcoVadis, a distinction that only 35% of the companies evaluated achieve.

What does it mean for VYC to be a Global Partner of Expoquimia and what expectations do you have for 2026?It is an honour and a responsibility, which positions us as leaders in technological innovation within the sector. We hope for an edition that marks a turning point in the industry, in which we can present disruptive advances and continue to strengthen ties with customers and collaborators from all over the world.

You are already preparing the novelties that you will present at Expoquimia 2026. Can you tell us in broad strokes what they will consist of?
We are working on new solutions focused on the digitalization of valves and remote control systems. Especially in a new range of intelligent equipment that can be integrated into steam generation systems, based on capacitive and conductive electrodes with their complementary equipment.

We have also just developed a new self-piloted pressure reducing valve and a cyclone-type steam condensate separator. We do not stop, we continue to expand and optimize our line of safety valves. All of this is designed to improve the efficiency, safety and traceability of industrial processes.

What can Expoquimia contribute to the companies in the sector that visit the show?
Expoquimia is an unbeatable meeting point to connect with the latest trends, share knowledge and establish strategic alliances. For companies, it represents an excellent opportunity to discover technological solutions, access key partners and strengthen their position in an increasingly global and demanding market.
