A conference featuring Schneider Electric, Sener, Technip Energies and Técnicas Reunidas
Engineers Day will showcase industrial decarbonisation projects at Expoquimia
Expoquimia 2026 will host a new edition of Engineers Day on the afternoon of June 4. This event, aimed at engineering professionals, will analyse four real initiatives in decarbonisation and energy transition in the chemical sector, promoted by Schneider Electric, Sener, Technip Energies and Técnicas Reunidas. The session, organised by Fira de Barcelona and the Col·legi d’Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya, will combine technical presentations, a round table and spaces for professional exchange at the Gran Via venue.
Engineers Day seeks to highlight the strategic role of engineering in industrial modernisation and to create a space for reflection on the sector’s main technological challenges. The meeting has been designed for engineering professionals, project and operations managers, R&D profiles and decision-makers in industrial environments. Following the positive reception of the first edition held in 2024 within the framework of Hispack, the event returns to Expoquimia 2026 to focus on the challenge of advancing towards a low-emissions industry.
“With Engineers Day we want to place engineering professionals at the centre of the industrial and technological debate, showcasing real projects that are already transforming the chemical industry and that point the way towards a more sustainable and competitive industrial model,” says Xavier Pascual, director of Expoquimia. “The trade fair is the natural meeting point for this kind of dialogue, where technological innovation connects directly with the needs of the market and society,” he adds.
From the Col·legi d’Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya (EIC), the initiative is seen as an opportunity to give visibility to the profession and its contribution to industrial progress. The president of the EIC Chemical Industry Commission, Jeroni Farnós Marsal, notes: “engineering is key to making the major changes needed by the chemical industry a reality, from emissions reduction to improved efficiency and competitiveness.” In this regard, he stresses that “events such as Engineers Day allow knowledge to be shared, create benchmarks and reinforce the role of engineers as agents of transformation.”
The programme will include a block of presentations by representatives of different industrial transformation initiatives promoted by leading companies. Specifically, Schneider Electric, Sener, Technip Energies and Técnicas Reunidas will take part—companies that are leading the energy transition from complementary fields including digitalisation, intelligent control, hydrogen engineering and carbon capture technologies. The event will conclude with a round table discussion, a recognition ceremony and a final networking session aimed at fostering collaboration among attendees.
Expoquimia is Spain’s leading trade fair for the chemical industry and is held alongside the plastics show, Equiplast. From June 2 to 5, both events are expected to bring together 800 exhibitors and attract more than 21,000 visitors, focusing on the sustainable transformation of production processes.
Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya (EIC) is the corporation that brings together the Professional Association and the College, representing 10,000 engineering professionals. It contributes to their professional development while providing expertise and rigorous analysis and proposals to society in order to fulfil its purpose: “Leading technological evolution for the progress of the world and people.”
