At Smart Chemistry Smart Future 2023, leading companies from the chemical sector will showcase this industry’s essential contribution to the Green Deal

The Spanish Chemical Industry Business Federation (Feique) is once again promoting the “Smart Chemistry Smart Future” forum which will highlight how the sector is leading the development of important innovative and disruptive solutions that will make a decisive contribution to accelerating the transition towards a sustainable and digital economy. Under the slogan Green Deal Edition, the fourth edition of this event will be held from 30 May to 2 June at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Vía venue as part of the International Chemistry Trade Fair Expoquimia.

After being the most visited space in the last three editions of Expoquimia, “Smart Chemistry Smart Future” returns in 2023 with 16 leading companies and organisations in the sector such as the Chemical Business Association of Tarragona (AEQT), Air Liquide, BASF, Bondalti, Carburos Metálicos, Cepsa, the Chemical Cluster of Tarragona (ChemMed), Covestro, Dow, Ercros, Grupo Industrias Químicas del Ebro (IQE), Ineos Inovyn, the Association of Chemical Companies of the Valencian Community (Quimacova), Quimidroga and Repsol. The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) is a collaborating entity; Institutional Partners: the Chemistry and Society Forum, the Spanish Technology and Innovation Platform for Sustainable Chemistry SusChem España and ChemSpain and Media Partners: Interempresas, Proyectos Químicos and Confidencial Químico.

Smart Chemistry Smart Future is a unique event focused on the contribution of the Chemical Industry to society, which will give visibility to the contributions of the chemical sector such as: the development of green hydrogen; the capture, storage and use of CO2; chemical recycling or new fuels, among others, which will be very relevant in areas such as energy transition, circular economy or digitalization and that will channel the production paradigm shift to achieve a climate-neutral Europe in 2050. But achieving this climate neutrality will not be possible without chemical innovation, since the products, advanced materials and technologies produced by the chemical industry are present in 98% of the rest of the productive sectors along the entire value chain.

Along these lines, Carles Navarro, vice-president of Feique and president of Expoquimia points out: “The chemical  industry is prepared to respond to the ambitious objectives of the Green Deal and also to take advantage of the opportunities it offers us in areas such as energy transition, circularity of the life cycle or the generation of safe and sustainable products from design, among others. Chemical companies  will address these issues at Expoquimia and, in particular, at the Smart Chemistry Smart Future forum”.
