Industry Showcase

This new knowledge area giving a voice to representatives of companies that use solutions from the chemical and plastic industry proved very popular among the attendees. 25 sessions with 53 speakers were held, with each day of the fair devoted to a monographic theme (hydrogen, the circular economy, digitisation and technology transfer) to explain real experiences and the specific results of applying innovation. The following companies distinguished by Expoquimia’s Best in Class programme were presented as success stories: H2Site, Inditex, Repsol and Fuelium.

LEADING THE MAIN CHALLENGES FACING SOCIETY

In Expoquimia’s nerve centre, this space for debate promoted by FEIQUE brought together more than 30 talks and other institutional events to show how the chemical industry is leading the development of the innovative technologies and processes that will prove essential in achieving the climate neutrality objectives set out in the European Green Deal by 2050.

CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, LEADING SOLUTIONS FOR THE PLANET

Around 250 scientists, researchers and professionals from industrial companies attended the 15th congress, which focused on the challenges of the 2030 Agenda. 233 papers were presented to set the standards for more sustainable and digitised industrial processes in the future. The speakers included: Elazer Edelman (MIT), Javier García (IUPAC), Lourdes F. Vega (RICH Center-Khalifa University), Ángel Irabien (University of Cantabria) and Alec Groysman, a corrosion expert from Israel.

Tech Transfer & Innovation Area

MEETING POINT FOR SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY

An area devoted to technology transfer featuring a dozen spin-offs, startups and European research projects linked to new materials, nanotechnology, renewable energies and the circular economy. All of them presented their developments and business models to potential customers and investors in elevator pitch format.

The chemical and plastics industries big night

More than 600 senior executives and representatives of leading companies and entities in the Spanish chemical and plastics industry filled the Oval Room of the National Art Museum of Catalonia at the first Expoquimia Gala Dinner. At this exclusive business event, the chemical industry advocated its commitment to sustainability and its key role in the green and digital transition of the planet’s economy and called for a favourable regulatory framework to undertake the necessary investments for the above.

Green Beauty Congress - 5th natural cosmetics forum

With more than 150 attendees, the congress organised by the Beauty Cluster and Mentactiva covered the main innovations in the natural cosmetics market. The strategy for the marketing of natural products, regulation, formulation, innovation and packaging were all discussed. It included a space to explore the sensoriality of these cosmetics and a formulation workshop.

Safety seminar on the storage of chemical and hydrogen products

Organised by BEQUINOR, the seminar analysed different practical cases for the application of the proposals of the Safety Commission for the safety of storage of chemical products in industries. The Hydrogen Safety Guide was also presented as a reference for the risk management of H2 facilities.

Marketplace for innovative solutions in the circular economy

ACCIÓ organised different activities to present the solutions of different companies responding to challenges such as chemical recycling, the recovery of critical raw materials, the capture and use of CO2 and the generation of alternative clean energies.

Seminar of the Chemists’ Association of Catalonia at Expoquimia

Three sessions addressed topics such as fluid handling safety, business trends in the chemical industry and the state of dual training within the sector.

AERCE Procurement Day Catalonia 2023

More than 150 purchasing professionals gathered at this meeting organised by AERCE to discuss issues related to sustainability in the supply chain, the digitisation of processes and cooperation with suppliers, as well as the impact of ESG strategies on the purchasing departments of companies and entities.

Challenges and trends in Chemical Engineering: from the circular economy to decarbonisation

The Association of Chemical Engineers of the Valencian Community and the Association of Chemical Engineering Professionals of Castilla-La Mancha organised this seminar with four talks on the power of data to promote circularity, the experience of innovation, the circular bioeconomy and the development of catalysts.

Organised by the SEQC, this scientific-technical seminar included eight talks that addressed the innovations and critical points related to quality regulations, raw materials, processes, finished products and the methodology for quality control in the cosmetics industry.

Circularity keys for materials used in containers and packaging

PACKNET organised a round-table discussion with representatives of AECOC, KNAUF INDUSTRIES ESPAÑA, the Leitat Technological Center, ITAINNOVA – Aragón Technical Institute and ITC Packaging to debate crucial tools for accelerating the circularity of the materials used in packaging.
