The 15th Mediterranean Chemical Engineering Congress will focus on the 2030 Agenda

The fifteenth edition of the Mediterranean Congress of Chemical Engineering, which will take place from May 30 to June 2 in the framework of Expoquimia, the International Meeting of Chemistry of Fira de Barcelona, will showcase the solutions developed by chemical engineers from around the world in order to accomplish the objectives of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

Rosa Nomen: “It takes a lot of chemical engineering for a scientific development to reach mankind”

After graduating in Chemical Engineering at IQS in 1978 and Industrial Engineering at the Ramon Llull University in 1993 and obtaining her doctorate in Chemical Engineering at IQS in 1982, Rosa Nomen has had a long career in the field of chemistry, particularly in the academic world. Nomen is the President of the Mediterranean Congress of Chemical Engineering, an event that’s set to take place within the framework of the forthcoming Expoquimia, the International Meeting of Chemistry, to be held from 30 May to 2 June at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue.

Luis Palomino: “If we turn the current crisis into an opportunity, we can make great progress in terms of the environment and the circular economy”

Luis Palomino, an agricultural engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and master's degree in Environmental Engineering and Management from the School of Industrial Organisation, has been secretary general of the Association of Waste and Special Resources Management Companies (Asegre) for 15 years. The association's 41 members include companies such as FCC, Ferrovial, Suez and Veolia, which manage five million tonnes of industrial waste a year.

Nora Ventosa: “Public-private collaboration is essential for transfer and innovation to take place”

Nora Ventosa is a chemical engineer specialising in Organic Chemistry from IQS and holds a PhD from Ramon Llull University. She is currently a research professor at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). She is also president of the TECNIO association, made up of all the universities and research centres in Catalonia that have groups that have received the TECNIO distinction from the ACCIÓ agency of the Generalitat de Catalunya. She is also a founding partner of the spin-off Nanomol Technologies, an example of technology transfer and innovation.

Alicia Richart: “Spanish industry is at an exciting time with regard to digitalisation”

Industrial engineer by the Instituto Químico de Sarrià and MBA by Esade Business School, Alicia Richart is general manager for Spain and Portugal of Afiniti, an American artificial intelligence company specialised in customer experience. She founded and was CEO of DigitalES, the Spanish technology sector employers' association, whose mission is to promote the country's digital transformation. In 2012, she was appointed Digital Champion by the European Commission, bringing the European Digital Agenda to our country.  She has also worked at Cellnex, Accenture and Total as a PVDF and polyolefins process engineer. He is a member of the board of the European University and Spin, a Ford Group company in urban micro-mobility.
